Domain Name FAQ

The information for my domain registration is incorrect in the WHO-IS at Network Solutions, how can I change this?
If you wish to update contact information or registrant address information for your domain name, you may go to the Network Solutions Web site and select to modify your domain services agreement. (www.networksolutions.com/makechanges ) Once you have submitted these changes, the currently listed administrative and technical contacts will receive an e-mail from Network Solutions requesting authorization of the changes. Either the technical or the administrative contact may reply to the e-mail and both should receive confirmation that the changes have been processed by NSI, after which point it will take 2 to 5 days for the updated information to show in the WHO-IS. Alternatively, Gambino Hosting can perform these changes easily and quickly for a $25 administration fee, and all you must do is to provide Gambino Hosting with the contact information you wish to change. Contact support@gambino.com to request this service.
How long does it take for my domain name to propagate?
Propagation normally takes anywhere from 2 to 7 days world wide once a domain has been re-delegated (transferred) to Gambino Hosting This rule also applies if you request a modification to any records within your DNS (zone) file such as MX record, CNAME, or A record additions/modifications.
If I register my domain name through Gambino Hosting, who owns the domain name?
As a customer of Gambino Hosting, you (or the party specified) will own the domain name as the legal registrant. Also, Gambino Hosting will not be listed as the administrative contact for the domain.
How many characters are allowed in a domain name?
For any GTLD (.COM, .NET, .ORG, .EDU) , a domain name can be up to 63 characters, not including the top-level identifier (i.e..COM). These characters may be letters, numbers, hyphens or a combination thereof. Domains may not begin or end with a hyphen and must be at least two characters long.
How can I register an .EDU domain?
The GTLD .EDU is reserved strictly for four-year, accredited, degree-granting colleges and universities with a verifiable curriculum. Gambino Hosting can request the registration of these domains for you provided you meet these requirements. The registration process for this GTLD can take up to one month, as Network Solutions has a committee specifically dedicated to processing these registrations and will contact your registrars office to verify all pertinent information. They may also request additional faxed information at their discretion.
